Brighouse Dyslexia Centre offers tuition to both children and adults. Teaching programs include multi-sensory specialist dyslexia tuition, study skills for older students, bespoke needs driven programs for students in Further or Higher Education and general literacy support for adults of all ages and abilities.
Dyslexia Literacy Program
Teaching is multi-sensory, cumulative, structured and based on the Dyslexia Association Literacy Program. Meta-cognition (learning to learn) is embedded throughout so pupils are able to transfer the taught strategies into the classroom and their everyday lessons.
GCSE & A-Level Study Skills
There are 2 programs, one for GCSE and one for A Level. They are 7 week programs and teaching includes the development of multi-sensory revision techniques, preparation and organisation of revision, exam technique, bespoke essay writting, note taking skills, identifying and working with information, wider research skills.
University & HE Study Skills
Bespoke, needs driven study skills.
Students in receipt of Disabled Students Allowance may be able to use funding from this to pay for these sessions.
Adult Literacy
We also offer support with reading and writing for adults who wish to improve their literacy levels, or for adults who would like to learn to read.
